Awards

The Portland Association of Health Underwriters (PAHU) presented the
2007/2008 annual awards at the September 17th PAHU breakfast meeting.
The membership nominated deserving members for their time, efforts and passion for our industry
and the recipients were chosen based on those nominations.

The 2007/2008 PAHU Awards were presented to:

Award: President’s Award

Recipient: Steve Tagmyer

Steve has been a very committed board member for the past 6 years. In his time on the board, he served in
many different positions. Over the past year, Steve went above and beyond to help educate our membership
about the Oregon Health Fund Board and how this could impact our industry. He worked hand in hand with
Steve Doty, Jenny Marks and others to hold membership meetings around the city, which were very successful.
Steve continues to be an active member of our association and has a lot of passion about the industry.

Award: PAHU Member of the Year

Recipient: Mike Skiens

Mike has done a great job getting involved immediately after joining the association. He immediately joined committees, some of which he was the chair-person for specific events. Mike brings different industry knowledge to the table and has a positive outlook, fresh ideas and cheerful spirit!

Award: Legislative Award

Recipient: Steve Doty

It is impossible to sum up Steve Doty’s dedication in words! Steve Doty is a constant resource for
our Legislators, a tireless representative of our industry, and an extremely involved member of our
association. Steve serves as the Oregon PAC chair for OAHU and is active in the OAHU leg committee.
He testifies in hearings at the State whenever needed. He makes himself available to educate our PAHU
members on legislative issues, such as the Oregon Health Fund Board initiatives. Steve is one of the
most dedicated individuals to our industry and association!

Award: Betsy Heydenreich Community Involvement Award

Recipient: Lori Davis

Lori has been an active member of our association and industry for many years. In addition to her “day job”,
Lori is also very involved in the community. She participates on the board for David’s Harp, which is a
community clubhouse model program for adults with serious and persistent mental illness. David’s Harp is
affiliated with the United Way and Mt Hood Community Mental Health Center. Lori has also participated in
the Gales Creek Camp clean up projects.

Award: Past President

Recipient: Tim Garrison

Tim was a dependable, respectable and dedicated PAHU president. He provided great leadership to the board,
great ideas, and was a great representative of our industry. Thank you for all your time and hard work Tim!

In addition, three carriers were presented with Carrier Certificates of Appreciation. The three recipients
were The ODS Companies, Kaiser Permanente, & Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. These three carriers
were selected based on their sponsorship levels in 2007/2008 and participation in PAHU events over the past year.

PAHU would like to thank all the carriers for their continued support and involvement in our industry.
Without your support, our industry would truly be a different place. Thank you for all that you do!
